Min: Firms develop only half of Russia’s hydrocarbon reserves
MOSCOW, Nov 26 (PRIME) -- Only about half of uncovered hydrocarbon reserves in Russia are developed, Natural Resources and Environment Minister Sergei Donskoi said at a conference Thursday.
“About 29 billion tonnes of recoverable oil reserves are on the Russian Federation balance under ABC1 and C2 categories. But only about 55% are developed. So, about 45% of recoverable reserves are not developed now, these are so-called undeveloped reserves of developed fields and also fields that are not developed entirely,” he said.
Some reserves are hard-to-recover, some fields have no necessary infrastructure or companies lack economic incentives or have a heavy tax burden, he said.
